Style & Approach to wedding Photography by Parkwin Photography

MY STYLE & APPROACH TO WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHY

"It's not a photo shoot, it's your wedding day"

Your wedding will be exhilarating, romantic, exciting, fun, emotional, full of atmosphere, but

a total whirlwind and a bit of a blur.

Words to describe my style are unobtrusive, candid, natural, spontaneous, storytelling, documentary, reportage.  Even your couple portraits are very natural and real.

I specialize in taking photos for couples who are really, really camera shy or just don't want the photography to have any impact on their day. I want you to relax and enjoy your time with family and friends and not feel like you are being pestered for photos all the time. I stay in the background capturing your beautiful story with timeless images that not only preserve the incredible moments but all the true emotion and atmosphere.  I have many years experience of looking and listening and being in the right place at the right time for the perfect shot to capture your story.

A professional yet personal approach, I listen to your ideas and requirements from the initial consultation right through to you receiving your images. Building a relationship that ensures you have the day of your dreams and photographs that you love, without it feeling like a photo shoot.

COUPLE PORTRAITS

Even your couple portraits are un posed giving, natural, fun, truly romantic photos as unique as you. During a quiet walk alone, the the only time you spend away from your guests, I preserve this part of your wedding day story from a distance without telling you what to do or how to feel. I want this to be your time. A moment to breath. Your true personalities and feelings will shine through. We will have discussed your favourite places to be included in your walk and things that work well in photos at our meeting. The only time you will be conscious of me is during any group photos you have requested.

THE STORY

I like to tell the whole story of your day, so I am normally there from when you are getting ready to way beyond your first dance. I don't want to miss the party! When the evening buffet/bbq/street food arrives is often a good finish time. However, if there are still unique moments happening, I will still be there taking photos! If you would like less photography coverage, a bespoke collection can be tailormade to your exact requirements.

THE MOMENTS

My approach enables me to photograph genuine moments as they unfold. Capturing the essence of your day. The BIG moments. Laughing with your bridesmaids, walking down the aisle, your faces as you see each other, exchanging rings, first kiss, cutting the cake, first dance.  But it's also about those, magic, spontaneous unique moments that you may not even see.  The emotion on the faces of your proud parents, guests greeting each other when they arrive, a hug from Grandma. The fun moments, laughter during the speeches, your flower girl hiding under the cake table and falling asleep amongst the presents, or Grandpa throwing some shapes on the dance floor. I preserve not only the story of your day but also the emotion and atmosphere.

THE PEOPLE

I am often asked if I have a favourite venue. I can never answer this, as for me weddings are more about the people than the place. The fun, the laughter, the love. I don't intrude, stop proceedings or tell people what to do!  For the majority of the day I blend into the background capturing you and all your guests having fun. The only time I will be evident is during any group photos you wish me to take. I will have asked you for a list beforehand and I take them quickly and efficiently, so that you can get back to enjoying your celebration.

THE DETAILS

I know how much time and care you have taken to choose all the little details and decorations that will make your wedding day unique to you. From the flowers and table settings to the sixpence in your shoe, photo of Grandma in your bouquet, cufflinks and special socks, everything will be photographed. I also take detail shots of the venue and food to complete the story of your day.

WHAT TO EXPECT

About two to three months before your wedding day I will contact you to arrange a pre-wedding meeting with you at your venue. I can hear all your plans, timings, family dynamic, surprises, details, group photos and all your favourite places at the venue. These can then be included in walk on your wedding day whilst I take natural couple photos. We also have a mini photoshoot at the meeting so that I can suggest what would work well and you can get used to me and the camera. Photos taken will be sent to you.

A few days before your wedding I will confirm my arrival time and make sure that no timings have been changed. Apart from getting equipment ready, I check traffic, any events taking place enroute to venue, parking and much more. I may stay at a hotel nearby the night before.

On the day I cover the number of hours you have requested but I don't clock watch. Events often over-run. I will stay until I have captured the moments you have asked for.

Most of my work happens after your celebration. One hour of taking photos leads to approximately three hours of editing.

A password protected highlights gallery will be sent to you around two to three weeks after your big day. All edited images will be ready three weeks later. These can be sent via a secure download or on a personalised USB drive in personalised presentation box that compliments your wedding colour or style.
